
Enjoy a variety of activities in celebration of wintering American Bald Eagles returning to southwest Illinois during the Alton Eagle Ice Fest on January 3! The celebration will take place at FLOCK Food Truck Park, the National Great Rivers Museum, and the Audubon Center at Riverlands.
All Saturday events are taking place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Here are highlights of activities available:
Ever had the opportunity to view a majestic American Bald Eagle up close? Head to FLOCK Food Truck Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for a free Eagle Meet & Greet and a chance to get your picture taken with America's national animal! The Eagle Ice Festival at FLOCK will also include food trucks, drinks available from the FLOCK bar, live music by Mike Mattingly, live ice carvers from Ice Visions, eagle-watching shuttle tours (departing from the Alton Visitor's Center), Eagle Fest Beer from Old Bakery Beer Company, fire pits, face painting for kids, and more!
Audubon Center at Riverlands will be open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. with donation-based Guided Hikes, $10 ticketed Eagle Meet & Greets at Sessions: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., s'mores, Eric the Eagle, eagle crafts, local vendors, food from Dam it Joe's, and more!
The National Great Rivers Museum will also be offering a number of free family-friendly activities. Look through spotting scopes for a chance to view an eagle on a dam tour. Make and take your own eagle crafts, check out a touch table with bird displays, watch eagle movies in the theater, and join an eagle tour on the dam every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Idle Roasting Co. will be selling coffee throughout the event!
Eagle Ice Fest Local Shopping Loop- jump on a shuttle and get in some shopping at multiple stops running between Downtown Alton, FLOCK Food Truck Park, Audubon Center at Riverlands, and the National Great Rivers Museum!
