Musical theatre lovers and dance lovers alike will appreciate these remarkable performances that demonstrate the synergy between musical theatre choreography and particular ballets. Choreographers such as Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine and Tony Winner Christopher Wheeldon (MJ the Musical) have created works with the energy, style and rhythms you might expect from the Broadway stage – set to the live music of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
Saint Louis Ballet’s Artistic and Executive Director Gen Horiuchi performed principal roles on Broadway and in London’s West End as well as with New York City Ballet before joining Saint Louis Ballet as its director. He knows the strong connections personally.
"Bringing Feels Like Broadway to life with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra is truly special. Having performed on Broadway and in the ballet world—and having worked with Jerome Robbins and George Balanchine—I’m thrilled to unite these two incredible art forms. This program celebrates the energy, storytelling, and brilliance of both ballet and Broadway, creating an unforgettable experience for our audiences." — Gen Horiuchi

Jerome Robbins choreographed this jazzy and distinctly American ballet that some consider a precursor (and uncannily similar) to his famous West Side Story.
-WHO CARES?
George Balanchine set his lively ballet to hummable Gershwin melodies, creating what some critics called "Broadway on pointe."
