

As part of our MLK Community Celebration, celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! Families are invited to join us for youth activism workshops, meaningful conversations on race and social justice, interactive storytelling, movement workshops, and crafts.

10am–4pm | Make-and-Takes and Black History Scavenger Hunt
Drop in anytime! Families can add to a community-led mural of MLK’s “Dream” of an America filled with diversity, mutual respect, and equity. Add your artistic contribution to this large-scale community art project, make a peace sign, or go on a self-guided scavenger hunt through the galleries to explore Black history in St. Louis.
10:30–11:15am | All–Ages Youth Activism Workshop: The Beloved Community
Through hands-on activities and thought-provoking group discussions, explore Dr. King’s core philosophy of the Beloved Community and come up with a plan for improving the community around you.
10:30–11:15am | Step Into Story: Activism
Participate in a large-scale story time with music and children’s books. We’ll explore the meaning of activism and protest, ending with a poignant reading of the “I Have a Dream” speech. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided by DEAF Inc.
11:45am–12:15pm | Activist Panel
Kids can be activists, too! Meet real-life leaders who fought for change at a young age and made a difference in the world around them. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided by DEAF Inc.
12:30–1:30pm | All-Ages Youth Activism Workshop: The Beloved Community
