Older elementary kids and tweens enjoy an opportunity to hit their "reset" buttons. After a busy week of school and extra-curricular activities, yoga can provide tools for kids to become more mindful and relaxed while building stronger bodies. Breathing techniques are highlighted throughout the class to teach kids how to relax when they are upset, angry, or afraid. After we warm up, we practice a variety of sun salutations, age-appropriate yoga games, guided yoga sequences, partner poses, arm balances and inversions like headstand. This class is flexible and adapted to meet each student’s needs. Current, popular music is incorporated throughout the class. Hands down, their favorite activity is savasana/relaxation time. The kids creatively use bolsters, blankets, and blocks to support this special way to end class.
