Free Forest School of St. Louis, MO meets on a weekly basis throughout the year at nearby wilderness areas. We share a snack, take a hike, play in the woods, and have circle time. Parents and caregivers get a chance to unplug and step back... Kids and their imaginations take the lead! Join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/FreeForestSchoolStLouisMO/
This chapter is connected to the nonprofit Free Forest School (https://www.freeforestschool.org). Fostering the next generation of environmental stewards, Free Forest School opens the door to nature play and emergent learning for thousands of children by empowering parents and caregivers to provide it themselves.
Meetings typically happen on weekday mornings and are subject to change depending on weather and attendance. The most established locations are at Emmenegger Nature Park and Queeny Park but we also have regular events in Metro East St. Louis and pop-up events throughout the greater St. Louis area. All Free Forest School events are facilitated by volunteers and we're always looking for more people to lead more events! Join our facebook group to get involved (https://www.facebook.com/groups/FreeForestSchoolStLouisMO/).
Our primary objective is to promote child-led play in nature and to build community through regular meet-ups at the same time and place. You can learn more about what Free Forest School events look like at the Free Forest School FAQ page: https://www.freeforestschool.org/free-forest-school-faq
