PreK–12 Programs
The Missouri Historical Society offers FREE programming for schools including museum field trips, outreach programs to classrooms, and virtual visits with a museum educator.
To ensure availability for as many schools as possible, schools will be limited to a maximum of 5 visits per school per month.
Every year the Missouri Historical Society (MHS) welcomes thousands of PreK–12 students and teachers from St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and beyond. MHS is committed to making the St. Louis region’s history accessible to every school and every student. These high-quality educational experiences are offered at no cost to schools.
We are proud to offer free field trips, outreach programs, and virtual learning programming facilitated by paid and highly trained museum educators for students and educators with history through intriguing questions, participatory activities, and grade-appropriate conversations. Program engagement strategies, themes, and content are tailored toward a PreK–1, 2–6, or 7–12 grade audience to accommodate students’ development abilities.
MHS strives for all students to:
Feel welcome and safe as part of our museum community
Begin developing museum literacy skills that will empower them to be lifelong museum learners
Foster a greater sense of empathy by engaging with diverse stories
The programs are designed to be participatory and interdisciplinary, emphasizing the critical thinking skills students use as lifelong learners. Although MHS educators do share many engaging stories about the past, your program won’t be a history lecture!
MHS also offers summer programs, professional development programs for educators, and free programs for families and homeschool students. Make a reservation for your group today!
