Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) Parent Coaching, is an intervention that helps caregivers, with children ages 6 months to 24 months, recognize ways to strengthen the relationship with their children and helps children learn to regulate behaviors and emotions. Caregivers will receive one hour weekly home visits with a certified Parent Coach for 10 weeks.
Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri offers ABC Parent Coaching as part of our PEACE (Preventing the Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences) Clinical Program - a prevention and early intervention program that empowers parents and caregivers with the knowledge and skills they need to protect even their youngest children from lasting negative mental health outcomes caused by early adversity.
Who is eligible?
PEACE services can be especially helpful for families who are:
Involved in foster care or foster care division
Parenting under challenging circumstances
Living in homes with interpersonal violence and/or poverty
Transitioning between caregivers
Have caregivers with mental illness or substance use issues
Caring for children who have experienced any kind of early adversity or are exhibiting behaviors such as tantrums, biting, separation anxiety, or have experienced abuse or neglect
