ABOUT THE SLB SUMMER INTENSIVE

0014.jpg

Saint Louis Ballet’s five-week summer intensive program for ages 7-21 offers the most complete program in the metro area with a variety of dance genres while standing on the principle that ballet is the foundation for success in all areas of dance. Expanding the program and offering now 4 levels, you are guaranteed to have a class to fit you! Daily ballet technique, pre-pointe or pointe classes and another genre class, the top 3 levels of the program offer 3 classes a day.

Our youngest level of the program, Ballet 1/2, offers a daily ballet technique class to teach and anchor students' skills in ballet.  The ballet class is followed by a second class of another genre to enhance their dance experience and broaden their education. This level does not offer classes the week of July 1-5.

Are Your Thoughts Helping You or Hurting You?

Understanding How Thoughts About Our Bodies and Ourselves Can Impact Our Dancing

Friday, July 12, 2024

1:45pm - 2:45p CST

This workshop incorporates current research and strategies to help dancers shift their mindset, self-talk, and relationships with their bodies. We will talk about how negative body image habits can impact mental wellness, how to identify when self-talk is a detriment to dancers' training and performance, how to reframe harmful thought patterns, and why humans' brains are wired to pick out the negative.

Building Confidence and Cutting Comparisons - How to Be the Best YOU and Why it Matters

Friday, July 19th, 2024

1:45pm - 2:45pm CST

This workshop helps dancers create and shape their individual identities and learn the science behind confidence and comparison. We will talk about how confidence is built (not born), why our brains compare ourselves with others, how to cope with comparative environments, and why it's important to create a strong and multifaceted identity - both inside and outside the dance studio.
